speech therapy
June 3, 2008
This evening, I had the privilege of observing a speech therapy session with Richard and Janet Mangiareli and their Speech Therapist Melissa. They taught me a little about aphasia, anomia, alexia, and agraphia to help me prepare for Night Sky. Mr. Mangiarelli, who had suffered a stroke a year and a half ago and has Broca’s aphasia, showed me his alphabet board, communication book, and sound charts. They patiently answered all my questions and generously shared their experiences with me. I learned so much more in one hour with them than from all the books and websites I’ve read.
I can’t thank them enough.
