Mo`olelo Performing Arts Company’s Executive Artistic Director Seema Sueko was honored with the Des McAnuff New Vision Award at The San Diego Theatre Critics Circle 2010 Craig Noel Awards for Theatrical Excellence ceremony last night.

Named for the former artistic director of La Jolla Playhouse, the honor — which recognizes inspired and risk-taking artistic vision — was first bestowed upon Moxie Theatre artistic director Delicia Turner Sonnenberg in 2007. Turner Sonnenberg took the stage Monday to present the award to Sueko.

Members of Mo`olelo’s Board of Trustees and Advisory Board were recognized by Sueko in her acceptance speech for their commitment to and passion for Mo`olelo’s mission and tremendous support through the years. There would be no Mo`olelo without them.

It is nice to see someone recognized who does their best not to be recognized. In a very self promoting world , it is great to honor Seema who does her best to shine the light on others. Congratulations to Seema and Mo’olelo.
